MSA Trust

Low blood pressure & monitoring

MSA commonly causes a drop in blood pressure when changing position for example,  standing up from a sitting or lying position. This can put people at risk of falling. Your specialist may ask you to record your blood pressure at home and our leaflet below explains how to do this and what to do with this information.

There are clinical trials underway to evaluate a potential new medication for postural hypotension. If you would like more information and to find out if you might be eligible to take part in research, see the research section of our website or contact your MSA Nurse Specialist.
