MSA Trust

In Memory of a loved one

Losing a loved one is always difficult, but perhaps 2020 has been made even worse due to the challenges and social distancing rules. Contributing and fundraising for the Trust in memory of a loved one can be a positive way of commemorating their life, while also helping us to continue supporting others still struggling with MSA.

Many families find solace in creating an online MSA Tribute Fund knowing that this will be a meaningful way to remember their loved ones while supporting the Trust as a charity close to their hearts.

You can easily open a free Tribute page in honour of your loved one. Its easy to set up, and you can personalise it with pictures, videos, stories and even timelines to mark milestones in your loves one’s life. Family and friends can leave messages of hope, light a virtual remembrance candle and add entries to an online journal to ensure that your loved one’s memories live on.  It is the most cost effective way to give in memory to the Trust as funds get automatically transferred  keeping administrative costs to a minimum.

Reclaim Gift Aid

If you are a UK tax payer you can increase your donation through Gift Aid. Register now and we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you donate at no further cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I am a UK taxpayer and would like Multiple System Atrophy Trust to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the current tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations it is my responsibility to pay any difference. I understand that Multiple System Atrophy Trust will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Multiple System Atrophy Trust receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.

Please accept our condolences on your loss and know that our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. Here you will find information on how to accept donations at your loved one’s service in lieu of flowers.

We understand that the COVID-19 pandemic has made arranging a funeral even more difficult with restrictions on the number of people gathering. Most Funeral Houses are not allowing a collection plate at the Service,  but do get in touch with the specific funeral directors to clarify this. It is a constantly changing situation and for the latest Government guidance on planning and funeral attendance please visit HERE

You can create a funeral notice (with a location, date and time of the service) online and collect in memory of your loved one.

Please ensure cheques are payable to ‘MSA Trust’ and reach our London office – 51 St. Olav’s Court, Lower Road, London, SE16 2XB.

Thank you for thinking of us at this difficult time. Your donations will be gratefully received and used wisely.

MSA Candlelight (hosted online for 2020)

This is our memorial event for family and friends to remember loved ones lost to MSA and funds raised from it will be directed towards MSA research. Therefore, this will be an opportunity to bring the community together for a message of hope – that one day soon research into MSA will find its cause and cure.

This event was planned to take place at the end of March 2020, but unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we can no longer gather as a community to host this event.

We hosted MSA Candlelight online using the platform Zoom, and brought the MSA community together  for an afternoon of music, poems and discussion on MSA research that ended with lighting candles. We are ever so grateful for the support the families have shown, and in return we have been able to provide a Book of Remembrance which has all the dedications ( in memory names) that were remembered during the memorial event.

MSA Candlelight will be back again and if you would like an invitation to the memorial event please fill out the form below.
