Celebrating Ten Years of Leadership with Karen Walker at the MSA Trust

Today, we proudly celebrate Karen Walker’s 10th anniversary as Chief Executive of the Multiple System Atrophy Trust. Over the past decade, Karen has led the organisation with vision and compassion. We are deeply grateful for her relentless support and the remarkable ways in which she has grown, evolved, and reshaped the MSA Trust—ensuring we continue to better serve and support everyone affected by Multiple System Atrophy.

“Karen, since you took over, the Trust has gone from strength to strength. This is down to you. With your consensus style and kind ethos, you bring us all into the important but emotional work we do. You can see opportunities and are prepared to take risks on new things if you believe they can support those we serve. It has been great working with you, and here’s to many more years for you at the helm.” – CEO, Andy Barrick

“Ten years ago, when Karen took on the role of CEO, there were three nurse specialists. The team has expanded over the decade to a team of eight — six healthcare specialists (five nurses and one occupational therapist) and two social welfare specialists. We are hugely grateful to Karen for her consistent support in expanding the service in a steady way that the charity can sustain. This enables us to continue to expand the service, reaching more people living with MSA each year. Karen’s support of the service is much appreciated and makes the MSA Trust a great place to work. She is always approachable and optimistic, despite the challenges and responsibilities of her role”- MSA Nurse Specialist, Jill Lyons

“Karen has been such an unstoppable, brilliant role model and leader for the fundraising team. She has been a kind and supportive CEO for the entire organisation, but especially for the fundraising team, with whom she works very closely. She has steered us through some very uncertain times and is always able to do so calmly. Karen has also been a great advocate for the MSA community and has ensured that our members are at the very heart of every decision we make in the fundraising team.”- Events, Community and Digital Fundraising Office, Eleanor Jarvis
