Dr Kieran Allinson is a Consultant Neuropathologist at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he is Head of the Neuropathology Service and Clinical Lead of the Cambridge Brain Bank. He is also an Affiliated Assistant Professor at the University of Cambridge.
His interest in neurodegenerative disease began in Edinburgh, where his early research examined the localisation of 14‑3‑3 protein isoforms in Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease (CJD). In 2014, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists and a European Fellow of Neuropathology. From 2018 to 2022, he served as Programme Secretary of the British Neuropathological Society.
Dr Allinson has authored over 60 publications in neuropathology, with a primary focus on neurodegenerative diseases. His work includes close collaboration with the Cambridge Centre for Frontotemporal Dementia, contributing to improved understanding of disease mechanisms through pathological research.
