Share Your Story
Your personal experience is the most powerful part of any awareness-raising. Sharing your story through a virtual interview or on ‘Your Stories’ page is a powerful way to raise awareness.
You can also reach out to your local media. Local media outlets are always looking for community stories, told by those with lived experience. For advice on getting your story published on our website or to find out more about getting in touch with the press or featured on TV or radio, download our Media Pack:

MSA Awareness Month
March is MSA Awareness Month, an opportunity for the Trust, the MSA community, and professionals to come together to raise awareness of Multiple System Atrophy. Whether by organising a community event, taking part in a challenge, or sharing our social media posts, every action helps.
We encourage everyone to mark March in their calendars and get involved in raising vital awareness and funds.
As part of MSA Awareness Month, we have host our annual 3,300-mile walking challenge—one mile for each person living with MSA in the UK and Ireland. You can connect your Strava account or add your miles manually. Throughout March, walk as much as you can and help us collectively reach our goal of 3,300 miles.
We also invite everyone to get involved by hosting or taking part in our MSA National Coffee Morning. You can host it anywhere — at home, in a care home, church hall, workplace, or any community space. By coming together over a cup of coffee, we can raise awareness of MSA and show support for everyone affected.
Raising Awareness Grant
We recognise the financial pressures that living with a condition like Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) can create. Additionally, we know that MSA is not widely understood, and our members often spend considerable time explaining it to friends, family, and even healthcare providers.
To help raise awareness, we’re launching a pilot program offering small grants to support fundraisers in developing resources—such as short films, blogs, literature, or covering travel and accommodation costs for community talks—that may otherwise be impossible due to financial barriers. We also recognise the challenge of collecting enough content (photos, stories, videos) from our members, and these grants will help the MSA Trust share members’ experiences more broadly, raising awareness and understanding of MSA.
We encourage any member to apply for an Awareness Grant (up to £200) if they have a project that will fall into three categories – raising awareness of:
- Living with or supporting someone with MSA
- The work of the MSA Trust
- How to fundraise or get involve
Our goal is to improve how we communicate about MSA across digital platforms, ensuring that the stories and experiences of our community are represented authentically, making our communications more impactful and effectively highlighting the challenges of MSA.
