A diagnosis of multiple system atrophy (MSA) is life-changing and can feel overwhelming, leaving people and their families unsure where to turn. The MSA Trust exists to provide specialist support, trusted information, and practical help to those affected, while also raising awareness and supporting research to improve understanding and care for this rare condition.
Your support will make a meaningful difference:
£1,000 could help provide specialist information and emotional support to people affected by MSA
£5,000 could support awareness and education initiatives to improve understanding of MSA among professionals and communities
£10,000 could contribute to research and projects aimed at improving care and quality of life for people living with MSA
By supporting the MSA Trust, your organisation helps people living with multiple system atrophy (MSA), and their families, access specialist care, practical and emotional support.

“Abbeychart took part in a charity football day in support of the MSA Trust. We were delighted to support the charity, which has a personal significance for members of our team. The event was a fantastic opportunity to come together, raise funds and awareness, and support the vital work the Trust does. It was a great example of teamwork, community spirit, and giving back.” – AbbeyChart
Match Giving
What is Match Giving?
Matched Giving is when your employer donates to the MSA Trust to match the fundraising you’ve done. Many companies match part or all the amount you raise, which could double the impact of your efforts
How it works
Check if your workplace offers a matched giving scheme.
Simply ask your employer if they would like to support your fundraising. You can use the email template to request a matched donation.
What we need from your employer
If your employer agrees to donate, they can do so directly via BACS, online payment, or cheque. Once the donation is made, ask them to email a confirmation to fundraising@msatrust.org.uk so we can link it to your fundraising.
Even if your workplace doesn’t have a formal scheme, it’s always worth asking, many employers are happy to support causes important to their staff.
Payroll Giving
What is Payroll Giving?
Payroll Giving is a simple way for your employer to donate to the MSA Trust directly from your salary before tax. This means your donation goes further, and it’s a hassle-free way to support people living with MSA.
How it works
- Check with your HR department if your workplace offers Payroll Giving.
- If they do, you can choose how much you’d like to donate each pay period.
- Your employer will handle the donation automatically, so there’s nothing extra for you to do.
Even if your workplace doesn’t have Payroll Giving, it’s worth asking — many employers are happy to set it up when staff show interest.
Charity of the Year
What is Charity of the Year?
Becoming the MSA Trust’s Charity of the Year is a wonderful way for your workplace to support people living with multiple system atrophy (MSA) and their families, while engaging and motivating your team. It brings teams together through activities and events, amplifies your social impact, and allows your business to build a deeper, more meaningful relationship with the MSA Trust. In return, we provide support, resources, and impact updates to help maximise engagement and demonstrate the difference your organisation is making
How it works
- Your workplace chooses the MSA Trust as your charity for a set period, typically a year, focusing on fundraising, awareness, and employee engagement around a shared cause.
- Staff can take part in fundraising activities, events, or challenges to raise awareness and funds.
- Donations raised go directly to vital support services, research, and advocacy for the MSA community.
What we can offer
As a small charity, we focus on providing practical support, including:
- Guidance and ideas for fundraising activities
- Promotional materials to help share your involvement
- Recognition and thanks for your team’s efforts
- Highlighting your support on our website and social media
- Options for staff to support fundraising events such as being on cheer squads
We may not be able to provide extensive on-site support, but we’ll be with you every step of the way to help make your fundraising meaningful and impactful.

Workplaces can take part by creating a team page, connecting your Strava accounts, and tracking your miles together to see how far your team can go. Every mile completed represents one of the 3,300 people living with MSA in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

“A commercial team at HSBC have come together to support Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) following the diagnosis of one of our respected people leaders. Recognising the importance of supporting the Trust in its mission to identify the underlying causes of MSA, we have organised a series of fundraising initiatives across our team. These activities have not only enabled us to raise vital funds for a charity that is particularly significant to us but have also strengthened our sense of unity and purpose as colleagues.” – HSBC Birmingham
