Professor M Hadjivassiliou is a full time NHS Consultant Neurologist at the Academic Department of Neurosciences, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and University of Sheffield.
He is the Director of the Sheffield Ataxia Centre caring for over 2500 patients with ataxias, including patients with MSA-C. His primary research is on the neurological manifestations of gluten related diseases and ataxias. His pioneering research resulted in defining previously unrecognized disease entities such as gluten ataxia and primary autoimmune cerebellar ataxia. He runs a weekly ataxia and gluten sensitivity/neurology clinics and dedicated MSA-C clinics receiving referrals from all over the UK and Internationally.
