International Nurse’s Day 2026

International Nurse’s Day is a chance to recognise the skill, dedication and compassion of nurses everywhere, and the difference they make every day to individuals, families and communities. We are proud to celebrate our MSA Nurse Specialists whose expertise and commitment make a real difference to people living with MSA.

Celebrating our MSA Health Care Specialists

The MSA Trust has been such valuable source of information and support and our MSA Trust Nurse Specialist, Samantha Pavey, has been wonderful. I try to attend the on-line meetings and coffee mornings as often as possible and it is comforting to speak to other carers and MSA patients as so few people know about this awful condition”.

A vital part of the Trust’s services is our MSA Nurse Specialist team: Katie Rigg, Samantha Pavey, Jill Lyons, Emma Saunders and Anna Kent. Working across the UK and Ireland, they provide practical, emotional and specialist support to people living with MSA, as well as to carers and families.

“My brother has MSA and I must say the meeting was invaluable for me Katie Rigg was fantastic and made me feel really welcome. She also gave the group lots of brilliant information which will certainly help me to have greater understanding of MSA. She answered all our questions and showed great empathy to all group members”.

Words from MSAT Staff

“Our Nurse Specialists are an important support to the work of the Social Welfare Specialists; for example, when discussing care needs and completing benefit forms with the people we support, we are frequently asked medical questions and queries about symptom management – to have the expert knowledge of our Nurse Specialists who can then speak directly with them is invaluable. It helps in our work, whilst providing comprehensive support for our MSA community.”

Louise Hardy, Social Welfare Specialist

From a fundraising perspective, the work of our Nurse Specialists is central to everything we do. We simply wouldn’t be able to raise vital funds without their dedication and the exceptional care and support they provide to the MSA community.

In my role as Senior Fundraiser, supporters regularly tell me that it’s the expertise and compassion of our Nurse Specialists that motivate them to donate. Their work builds trust, demonstrates real impact, and helps donors understand exactly why their support matters.”

Eleanor Jarvis, Senior Fundraising Engagement Officer

“Our regional Nurse Specialist team is central to how we connect with and support the MSA community across the UK. By providing expert guidance rooted in local services and networks, they play a vital role in supporting individuals and families at every stage. Their work not only makes a huge difference day to day, but also strengthens our trust and foundation fundraising by clearly demonstrating the impact of compassionate, accessible MSA support in communities across the country.”
