Please find below a list of our current volunteering opportunities, including a full role description and how you can apply or register.
We recruit volunteers according to the level of need in each area and, as such, not all roles are available in all locations. If you are interested in volunteering with us but there are no current suitable vacancies we will still welcome your application and can contact you as soon as a suitable opportunity becomes available. We hold prospective applications for up to twelve months.

Support Group Leaders
Volunteer Support Group Leaders set up and run groups in their local communities. They are a fantastic support system for anybody affect by MSA, attracting and welcoming members and arranging meetings across the year. There would be plenty of support given to help people get started and you would be doing something really worthwhile and valuable. No experience required, just good people skills and an eye for organisation. For further information, please download the Support Group Leader role description or, for an informal chat about the role, please contact Emma on 0333 323 4591.
We currently have established groups in Staffordshire, Hertfordshire, Aberdeenshire, Tayside, Lincolnshire, Northumberland, Bristol, East Yorkshire, Cornwall and Republic of Ireland. These are currently facilitated by our MSA Specialist Nurses but we would love to get more local support in the shape of Group Leaders to run these.
Please get in touch if you think that could be you!
Office Volunteers help the Trust by providing administrative support working with either our services or fundraising teams. We are also open to people offering support with skills such as finance, marketing or database knowledge. The role involves working in our offices in London on a regular but flexible basis. If you would like more information about this role please email email@example.com or call 0333 323 4591. You can download the Office Volunteer role description here.
Helping Hands Volunteers
Whatever your strengths are, we’re sure that we will have something that will interest you and make a huge difference to the work that we do.
Could you lend a hand? With only a small team of staff working tirelessly to raise funds, increase awareness and support people affected by MSA, we are incredibly lucky to have an ever growing army of Helping Hands Volunteers registered to offer their time to support the Trust and get involved in our work.
Helping Hands support the Trust in many ways, such as:
- Creating a visible presence at public events and cheering on our event fundraisers
- Becoming part of our User Information Review Panel who review all of our new and existing factsheets and information resources
- Doing one-off project work for us at home e.g helping us to research MSA support services worldwide
- Getting involved in one-off fundraising bucket collections
- Cheering at fundraising events such as the London Marathon
- Helping out at Support Group meetings with setting up, greeting members and serving refreshments
- Handing our MSA Trust leaflets to hospitals and GP surgeries
- Supporting us with marketing or PR work
- Helping in our Trust office on an ad-hoc basis.
If you’re interested in becoming a Helping Hands Volunteer we invite you to email or call our office to chat about what work you might like to do or read the Helping Hands Volunteer role description. We would love to hear from you and will be incredibly grateful for your support.
