MSA Trust

Service of Light

Today we launch MSA Awareness month. The entire month of March is dedicated to raising awareness of MSA. One of the key issues people living with MSA, their families and their carers have to face is the desperate lack of knowledge and understanding about this condition amongst the wider public and healthcare professionals.

The Trust tries to ensure it is engaging effectively with all those affected by MSA, including those who have recently been bereaved. That is why the MSA Services of Light, held in London and Manchester during MSA Awareness month are so important to us. This is an opportunity for those in the MSA community to join with Trustees, staff and family and friends to remember their loved one who had MSA. The service is a short one with some beautiful singing by our selected choirs, readings of poetry and prose and a short address by the Chair of our Board of Trustees, Professor Clare Fowler CBE. We follow that by lighting a candle to those who have passed away. This is an uplifting occasion, which allows a time of quiet reflection and remembrance.

Following the service, we invite the attendees to join us for some refreshments and a chance to chat to others who have experienced the devastating effects of MSA. The Trustees, many of whom have lost family to MSA, and the staff who work tirelessly to raise funds for research and to support our incredible Nurse Specialist team, will also be attending.

I sincerely hope some of you will join us on
