My Mum's speech was slurred for about a year before she was eventually diagnosed with MSA. Since then her dysphonia and dysarthia has become steadily, progressively and dramatically worse.

I'm now worried that my incredibly intelligent Mum will end up 'locked in' and unable to communicate. She can't type on the computer anymore thanks to her painfully slow movements and poor coordination :( I saw someone earlier mentioning the Proloquo app for iPads but having visited the website the app seems to be very expensive and there are no trial/lite/demo versions to even sample for suitability. I don't want to buy an iPad for a single App that raises her hopes and then dashes them within 5 minutes. Is this app any good?

How have other people fared with aiding deteriorating speech? Apart from speech therapists are there technological solutions? I see the MSA blog also asks what people are doing but I thought I'd raise it on the forum too.

So if you have any experiences then please share them.
Thank you :)
